Funeral services for Harold Strange, Sr. (80) of Villisca, Iowa will take place at 2:00 PM at the Wolfe Funeral Home of Villisca on Monday, March 1, 2010 with Pastor Gordon Scott officiating. Interment in the Arlington Cemetery immediately after the service.
Visitation with the family will be at the Wolfe Funeral Home of Villisca on Sunday, February 28th from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.
Harold Lewis Strange, Sr. was born November 15, 1929, in Rockport, Missouri, the son of William Flower Strange and Bessie Lavonia (Huff) Strange. He had nine brothers and sisters. He passed away on February 24, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Omaha.
Harold served in the Army during the Korean War (1951-1953). On November 15, 1956, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Ilene Frazier at the Baptist Church in Shenandoah, Iowa. He worked at the Snow White Laundry and Lake’s Nursery in Shenandoah. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, hunting, and the Minnesota Vikings.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; wife Phyllis; son Harold Strange, Jr.; brothers Oscar, Allen, Frank, and Bus; sisters Mary, Bessie, Eva, and Margaret; and great grandson Matthew Kimbro. He is survived by his daughters Mary (Kent) Gage of Villisca, Vicki (Larry) Gardner of Salem, Virginia, Ilene Kovar of Roanoke, Virginia, and Patty (Sam) Kier of Shenandoah; grandchildren Patrick Ryan, Jeff Ryan, Kira Gage, Kathy Gage, Dixie (Shannon) Williams, Christopher Gardner, Cody Gardner, Brandy (Dean) Johnson, Brandon Gardner, Melissa (Luke) Dragoo, Kristan Kovar, Steven Nelson, Justin (April) Nelson, Curtis (Felcia) Nelson, Heather Nelson, Victoria Kimbro, Shawna Strange (William Cox), Tessa (Steve)Foster, and Joshua Strange; 24 great –grandchildren; sister Jane Evans of Clarinda; good friend Joe Philpott; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
