Graveside services for Mark A. Tatro (tate-row) , 87, of Villisca, Iowa were held on Friday, March 5, 2010 in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Corning, Iowa. Mark passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 87. Mark Anthony Tatro was born April 21, 1922 at Kingman County, Kansas, to Henry Walter Tatro and Catherine Schonlau Tatro. Later in his life he lived in Carbon, Iowa, where he farmed the land and also had livestock. Aside from the normal chores, he also milked cows and tended to his nieces horses. Mark was united in marriage to Betty Loughry September 16, 1967 south of Cumberland, Iowa at the Reno Catholic Church. After four years of farming, his health had declined and as a couple they moved to Villisca in 1975. While living in Villisca Mark did some light farming. He also raised yearling calves and goats. He and Betty were members of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Villisca, Iowa. In 2005 Mark moved to the Villisca Good Samaritan Care Center where Betty came to visit daily. Mark was a great handyman and loved the outdoors. He and Betty went to many sales and would purchase miscellaneous things and he would repair or fix them up. He enjoyed playing dominos, the company at Senior Citizen Center, D&D and Breadeaux, all in Villisca. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Elizabeth Green; half-brothers Gerald Tatro and Bill Tatro, step brothers, Eugene Click and Ivo Click; and half-sisters Mary Williams and Catherine Vondraseck. Mark is survived by his wife, Betty, of Villisca, IA; sisters Pauline Strand of Abilene, KS, Patricia Kasha of Villisca, IA; sisters-in-law Opal Click of Arizona and Rosie and husband Harry Williams of Atlantic, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.
