Jeffrey Barr, age 35, of Clarinda, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 as a result of an accident in rural Clarinda, Iowa. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa with Reverend John Clark officiating. Visitation with the family was held 5-7 p.m., Monday, March 1, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial was on the Barr family farm. Memorials may be given in his name. Jeffrey Robert Barr was born March 15, 1974, at Clarinda, Iowa, to Larry and Janice (Durfey) Barr. Jeff grew up in rural Clarinda and attended Immanuel Lutheran School and Clarinda Community Schools, graduating from Clarinda High School in 1992. Jeff was baptized and a confirmed member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Clarinda; he attended Sunday School and Jeff and Larry served as ushers at the same time for many years.
Jeff had been a mechanic with Nicholas Cycle in Essex, Iowa. He had a great love for anything with wheels and a motor. Jeff enjoyed radio controlled cars, go carts, trucks, four wheelers, anything to do with racing. Jeff inherited his mechanical ability from his dad, and he could build anything, tear it apart, fix it and put it back together. As a special project, Jeff built the “silver truck”; sold it and kept track of where it went. Jeff was currently pursuing his dream, “Fro Customs”.
Family was very important to Jeff; he was an excellent son and he loved kids, especially Clint, Layne, Tayler and Christopher.
Preceding Jeff in death were his father, Larry Barr; grandparents, Wilbur “Tobe” Durfey, Virginia Turner and Edna Barr.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Janice Barr of Clarinda, Iowa; sister, Jennifer Brown of Clarinda, Iowa; nephew, Layne Brown of Clarinda, Iowa; grandfather, Robert Barr of Clarinda, Iowa; aunts, Denise Neville of Clarinda, Iowa and Mary Collier of Clarinda; uncles, Byron Bar and wife Gail of Clarinda, Roger Barr and special friend Pam of Clarinda, Randy Durfey and wife Lisa of Clarinda; cousins and many friends.
Jeff will be greatly missed by his family and man friends; His love for them will be a memory that will remain in their hearts forever.
May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn his passing.
