Donna Lee Pierce will be held
Saturday, July 24, 2010, at
11:00 a.m. at rhe First United
Methodist Church, in Red Oak.
Rev. Fred Pilecki will be officiating.
A private burial will take
place at a later date in
Arlington Cemetery, Villisca,
Ia.
Donna, the daughter of
Leonard and Ruth (Jones)
Bauer was born September 30,
1929, northwest of Red Oak in
Montgomery County, Iowa.
She passed away Friday, July
16, 2010, at the Montgomery
County Memorial Hospital,
Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 80
years, 9 months and 16 days.
Donna was raised in
Montgomery County attending
Garfield #6 and Stewart rural
schools. She graduated from
Villisca High School in l947.
Donna furthered her education
by attending a branch of
University of Iowa in Corning,
Iowa to obtain her teaching
certificate. For two years, she
taught students at Greenwood
#4 rural school northwest of
Tenville, IA. Donna was united
in marriage to James F. Pierce
at the Villisca United
Methodist Church on August
15, 1948, in Villisca, IA. To
this union were born four
daughters, Deidra, Dorene,
Doris and Denise. James and
Donna lived on a farm all of
their married life. They rented
and then purchased their farm
northeast of Red Oak in l985.
She loved cooking for her family,
making sure everyone had
their favorite dish or dessert.
Donna took pride in her beautiful
flowers which came from
her flower garden. She treasured
her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren and cherished
the time spent with them.
Donna was a member of the
First United Methodist Church
and U.M.W. in Red Oak. She
was also a member of two
neighborhood clubs.
Donna was preceded in
death by her parents; sister:
Lila Bock and husband
Donald; brothers-in-law:
Ernest Chaney, Harry
Chickering, Harley Chickering,
Ross Chickering, Wayne
Chickering; and sisters-in-law:
Rose Luedeke, Darlene
Glasscock, Doris Schultz and
Helen Chickering.
Donna is survived by her
husband: James F. Pierce of
rural Red Oak, IA; 4 daughters:
Deidra Ash and husband Tom
of Lincoln, NE; Dorene
Atkinson and husband Don of
Villisca, IA; Doris Barr and
husband Randal of Red Oak,
IA; Denise Manard of Iowa
City, IA; 9 grandchildren: Scott
Ash & wife Monica of Lincoln,
NE; Kristy Barrett & husband
Chad of Lincoln, NE; Mark
Ash & wife Melissa of Lincoln,
NE; Curtis Patterson & wife
Carisa of Red Oak, IA; Jason
Patterson of Red Oak, IA;
Angie Matthews & husband
Tim of Lincoln, NE; Nicole
